We practice Christian living by putting faith and love into action. Jesus taught “when you serve one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you have done it for me.” Matthew 25:40
Holy Communion normally takes place in the morning service on the first Sunday and in the evening service on the third Sunday, of each month. The Methodist Church believes in an ‘open table’ and all are welcome to eat the Bread and drink the Wine in response to Our Lord’s command to ‘do this in remembrance of me’.
Weddings: The church is delighted to be a venue for your wedding ceremony. Contact our office for information.
Baptisms: are performed on request. Contact our office for information.
Funerals: If you are arranging a funeral for a relative or friend, contact our office for further information.
The Flower Ministry is led by Heather Brown. Every week the Communion Area at the front of the church is decorated for Sunday services with flowers provided and arranged by members of the congregation or the flower team. On Monday, arrangements are dismantled and flowers are distributed to any members of the congregation or others, who are known to be ill or need visiting. The Flower Team decorates the church for Easter, Harvest and Christmas, for other special events and for weddings and funerals.
The Music Ministry is led by Valerie Ruddle. Most weeks regular morning worship is supported by eight or nine members of the twelve-strong choir, which is reinforced for special occasions such as the Christmas Carol Service. Carols at the station for Christian Aid is led by Trevor Harvey. An ecumenical choir comes together to sing in one of the town churches for an Advent Carol service. Most alternate months a small orchestra plays, conducted from the piano by Valerie. The Drive is very fortunate to have sufficient musicians able to play organ and/or piano to fill a rota which has over 100 places each year, supporting worship in the morning and evening services.
